Bookstore Adventures…

While browsing my local used bookstore and Goodwill, I found some great loot: nice, clean copies of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith, The Complete Poems by Anne Sexton, A Room With a View by E.M. Forster, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, and Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh. All this for $10! What are your latest acquisitions?

  1. Left a comment at your old blog site and then while poking around saw that you had moved. 😦 Does that mean my post under “Heat Wave in New York” is lost in some cyber netherworld?!?! The moment is gone–I can’t recapture it–cutting and pasting seems a violation. Damn. And here I was thinking I would end up going to the Strand with you. Oh well. I found a first-edition of Jelly Roll Morton’s autobiography in their little rare book room. Are they still open? I never traveled from my small town to New York much either. When I was young and my older sister was at college in Poughkeepsie, we went to the city; while on the subway, she told me to “just look down.” As if that made us blend in. LOL! Oh wow. Haven’t thought of that in a while. I’m glad I stumbled on to your blog. Bad day–cheered me up. OK–later. Gotta walk the dog one last time and then read a bit to my son before he goes to bed. What part of New York are you in, by the way? Note to self: stop babbling–she’ll think you are crazy.
